The Next Normal In Parenting

Join us for an informal conversation with other parents to share and connect over the shared experience of parenting during COVID-19.

About this event

Two years in, parenting during the pandemic continues to be a constant, evolving challenge!

Do you find yourself bracing for what's coming next? As we navigate these times, we wanted to offer our community a chance for an informal, peer-led virtual conversation with other parents to share, validate, vent, and connect over the shared experience of parenting right now.

Potential topics:

  • Highs and lows

  • Hopes and fears

  • Is it reckless to feel optimistic?

This will be a free online Zoom conversation facilitated by Sarah Wu.

Sarah is a Moms as Mentors facilitator, currently completing her Master's of Social Work and clinical social work internship at Women and Infants Hospital in Providence, RI. She is also mother to a 2 year-old daughter.

About this event

This interactive workshop will look at the prevalence, consequences and causes of negative body image for girls and then focus on practical ways to promote a healthy body image for the girls in your lives. This session is geared towards caregivers who have daughters up to age 18.

Participants will be sent resources and tips to promote a healthy body image for girls. This workshop will be led by Linda Lin, Ph.D., Professor of Psychology at Emmanuel College. Linda is a clinical psychologist who has a special focus on health behaviors (e.g. eating disorders, obesity, exercise, smoking). Her research centers on body image and she is passionate about helping women fight a culture that objectifies them and uses beauty/thinness as a measure of women’s value.

Need-based financial scholarships are available. Please email Leslie Coles at lcoles@momsasmentors.org for more information.

Please note that due to the sensitive nature of the topics addressed in this workshop, it will not be recorded.

A Gathering for Connection And Support

No matter the age of your children, whether or not you are working, and whether your children's schools are giving too much or not enough work right now, this is just plain hard.
While we don't have the answers, we thought we might be able to help, at least a bit, by providing an opportunity to connect with and support one another.  That's why we are trying something new.

On May 20, from 7:30 PM to 8:00 PM we are going to host a free virtual "Gathering for Connection and Support" Connection and Support" for the moms and other caregivers in our community.

This will be an informal, online Zoom conversation facilitated by our beloved Director of Social Emotional Learning, Clinical Psychologist and Professor Dr. Linda Lin.

While this is a free workshop, there are a limited number of spots available and you must register in advance.
